Latex Care
Latex clothes can last a lifetime given you take the correct care to look after them and store them in well.
Protect your latex:
Always store in a cool dry place away from sunlight. Sunlight will fade latex so if you are wearing latex on a beautiful summers day then make sure you have adequately shined and conditioned the latex first. Still be aware that even with shiner the latex can still discolour under the sun, so Its best to try and avoid any kind of sunshine.
Sharp object such as nails, jewellery can easily rip latex. When putting your latex on, use plenty of dressing aid and only use your fingertips to pull the latex on to your body.
Metals can stain your latex. It’s hard to avoid putting metal eyelets and hardware into latex but if you make sure that the metal parts do not stay wet for too long after washing and you dry them carefully, then it should avoid any unnecessary staining. Always try to wrap all the metal parts up in tissue paper when storing if for long periods to avoid any kind of transference onto the garment.
Keep latex colours separated. Store them wrapped in tissue paper where possible to keep dark and light colours apart.
Only store your latex when its fully dried after washing. Fully talc the latex and never use a tumble dryer or radiator to speed up this process.
Nicotine will stain your latex. Especially white latex!!
When you receive your latex through the post it will always come with talc on to prevent the garment from sticking together. It will look powdery and dull but fear not, any latex shiner will make the item beam and truly bring it to life. If an item is being worn for the first time, then it is best to wash it in Lukewarm water to remove the talc. You can use Latex shampoos and conditioners but do not use soap or other Household oils or solvents.
After washing, use a latex shiner to polish the latex. Either spray onto a polishing cloth or straight onto the latex and polish to bring it to a shiny finish.

Storing latex:
If you are storing latex for an extended period, then I find it best to talc the item and pack it away in its own plastic suit bag on a plastic or wooden hanger. You can always wrap the item in tissue paper and store in a plain plastic bag in a draw or cupboard away from any natural sunlight.
If storing it only for a short period of time, then you can leave the latex cleaned, washed, and conditioned on a hanger in a garment bag but ensure that you re-shine it to keep it well conditioned.
